The honest maths: if you're hitting more than ~10 block hours per quarter, a managed-services tier almost certainly costs less per hour AND gives you proactive monitoring, security baseline, immutable backup, and a fixed monthly number. Radius-based travel pricing from Outlaw IT HQ in Fernvale (4306). Five rings, transparent rates. Managed clients get half travel-time billing as part of the relationship; break-fix is full rate. Remote-first means we resolve as much as possible without driving — onsite is reserved for the work that needs hands.

We charge for onboarding because it's real work — between $440 and $5,000 inc-GST depending on tier. We publish the fees rather than burying them in the monthly rate. We default to 12-month commitments at Essentials and above because that's how Microsoft's licence terms work; we also publish a month-to-month option at +10% so you can choose.

The +10% month-to-month premium covers Microsoft's NCE structural cost (monthly-commitment M365 licences carry a 20% premium). We pass it through honestly rather than absorb it. Add-ons stay at list under any term.
Sub-minimum tenant fee: Where your seat count is below tier minimum (Essentials min 3 users · Standard min 5 · Premium min 10), a $50/mo flat per-tenant fee applies. Covers fixed per-tenant overhead that doesn't scale with seat count. Real-world example: a 2-person legal practice that needs Standard's tenant hardening pays $229 × 2 + $50 = $508/mo, not $229 × 2 = $458.

About the SMB1001:2026 readiness labels. M365 Setup builds the technical foundation that maps to a SMB1001 tier — it doesn't deliver certification on its own. Certification requires director attestation via the CyberCert portal (for Bronze, Silver, Gold), plus the non-technical controls — incident response plan, digital asset register, staff training, AI use policy — that sit in the Cyber Health Snapshot uplift.
Pro covers the Gold-level technical controls (EDR, hardened identity, device management, asset visibility). The remaining Gold-level governance controls — IR plan, asset register documentation, training programme, AI policy — get bundled in with a Cyber Health Snapshot Silver or Gold cert engagement. Standard arrives Silver-complete on attestation. Express arrives Bronze-complete with two Silver controls already in place.
Bigger than 20 users, or migrating from Google Workspace / on-prem Exchange? That's a separate scoped project — quoted per environment after a discovery call. We've kept the published tiers honest at the sizes we can deliver to a fixed fee.
